Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh stinging nettle leaves
  • 4 cups water
  • Honey or lemon optional, for flavor

Instructions

Harvesting Nettle Leaves:

  • Before you begin, ensure you have properly harvested stinging nettle leaves. It’s crucial to wear gloves to avoid stings. Select young, tender leaves, preferably from the top of the plant.

Washing The Leaves:

  • Thoroughly wash the nettle leaves under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Be cautious while handling them to avoid getting stung.

Boiling Water:

  • In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Adding Nettle Leaves:

  • Carefully add the washed nettle leaves to the boiling water. Allow them to simmer for about 5-10 minutes, depending on your desired strength of tea.

Straining The Tea:

  • Once the tea has steeped to your preference, remove the pot from heat. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the tea into a teapot or directly into cups to remove the leaves.

Serving:

  • Serve the stinging nettle tea hot. You may add honey or a squeeze of lemon for extra flavor if desired.
