Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon dried licorice root
  • 1 teaspoon slippery elm bark
  • 1 teaspoon marshmallow root
  • 1 teaspoon wild cherry bark
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon bark
  • 1/4 teaspoon bitter orange peel
  • 2 cups water
  • Honey or lemon optional, for taste

Instructions

  • Step 1: Start by boiling the water. You’ll want it at a rolling boil before you add your herbs.
  • Step 2: While the water is heating up, combine all the herbs—licorice root, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root, wild cherry bark, fennel seeds, cinnamon bark, and bitter orange peel—in a small bowl. These herbs not only help soothe a sore throat but also offer great benefits for mucus relief.
  • Step 3: Once your water is boiling, reduce it to a simmer. Add the herb mixture into the pot and let it steep for about 10 minutes. This ensures that all the beneficial properties from the herbs are fully released into the tea.
  • Step 4: After 10 minutes, strain the tea into your favorite mug using a fine-mesh sieve or a tea strainer. This removes all the loose herbs, leaving you with a smooth, warm tea.
  • Step 5: If you like a bit of sweetness, you can stir in some honey. For an extra dose of Vitamin C, squeeze a slice of lemon into your tea. Now, sip slowly and enjoy the comforting warmth!
